Book excerpt: This is Unimaginable and Unavoidable (subtitle) Irresponsible Writings on Non-Duality By Guy Smith Foreword by Tony Parsons This first book by Guy Smith addresses the appearance of separation from first-hand experience in an original series of prose, verse and 'notices'. Challenging and original, it constitutes a blast of freedom written in the period six months after awakening. Guy Smith is 24 years old and lives in Bristol. "I love this book! It is passionate, uncompromising, irreverent, intimately openhanded and wonderfully without any sense of order or progression. Throughout the whole work there is very little that the cunning guru mind can get hold of and turn into a belief system. There is a powerful invitation within these outpourings which seems to harbour and generate a feeling of the sensuous, the impersonal, the unbounded mystery that lies beyond the words. This is not a book to wade through steadily, but rather a deep pool in which to dip one's foot . . . and maybe fall in. There is a proliferation of so-called Advaita/Non-dual literature available today, and virtually all of it is borne out of a fundamental misconception about the nature of being. However, during the last decade some rare, clear voices have emerged out of the mist, and Guy's work is surely an inspiring and unique confirmation of this wonderful message." Book excerpt: There is no way to begin without telling you the saddest part of the story. It's a love story, and it begins with a positive pregnancy test. But, it doesn't end with a baby."Everything was right on schedule in Brooke Taylor's meticulously planned world. She had checked off every box-the husband, the house, the dogs, the graduate degree, the (modest) savings account-and now, positive pregnancy test in hand, she had checked the most anticipated box of all. As a young couple with every dream seemingly within their grasp, the potential for looming tragedy wasn't even on their radar. The death of a child? That was an unfathomable abstraction, a terrible tragedy that could only happen to someone else. And then, in one fateful moment, the unimaginable became their reality. After 34 weeks of a textbook, uneventful pregnancy while expecting their first daughter, Eliza, in 2010, Brooke and her husband David were shocked when she went into labor weeks before her due date-and then absolutely blindsided when they arrived at the hospital only to be told that their beloved "Baby Duck" no longer had a heartbeat. This is the story of what comes next: of learning to live with a broken heart that keeps on beating, of picking up the pieces amidst the devastation of earth-shattering grief, and of finding a way to love life again-even when nothing goes according to plan. This is the story of surviving the death of a child, navigating the complexities of life after pregnancy loss, and discovering that grief can somehow become a part of our life without overtaking it completely.Unimaginable: Life after baby loss examines what it means to be a parent bereaved through stillbirth, and traces one mother's path back to a hopeful life.

Book Synopsis Unimaginable by : Graham Ward

Download or read book Unimaginable written by Graham Ward and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2018-07-30 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What we imagine can crush us or create us, destroy us or heal us; it can pitch us into battles with demons or set us among the songs of angels. It has roots beneath consciousness and is expressed in moods, rhythms, tones and textures of experience that are as much mental as physiological. In his new book, a sequel to the earlier Unbelievable, one of Britain's most exciting writers on religion here presents a nuanced and many-dimensional portrait of the mystery and creativity of the human imagination. Traversing landscapes that are both physical and emotional, palpable and intangible, the author enlists the company of fellow-travellers William Wordsworth, William Turner, Samuel Palmer and Ralph Vaughan Williams – alongside many other creative artists – to try to get to the bottom of the true meanings of originality and memory. Drawing the while on his own rich and varied encounters with belief, he asks why it is that the imagination is so fundamental to who and what we are. Using metaphor and story to unpeel the hidden motivations and architecture of the mind, and show what might lie beneath, Graham Ward grapples here with profound questions of ultimacy and transcendence. He reveals that, in understanding what it really means to be human, what cannot be imagined invariably means as much as what can.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2010, God gave me the goal of my diaconate ministry: to bring peace and joy to all I meet. This book manifests the fruit of my submission to God’s will on joy. It describes how we can achieve joy through the soul’s three faculties: will to do good, mind to know the truth, and heart to love. The function of the will is to do good, and we desire goodness. When we are co-creators with God to make the world a better place for one person at a time to the best of our abilities, we are joyful in the will, and therefore, are joyful in living. The function of the mind is to know the truth. Since Christ is the Truth, to know God is to know joy: His blessings, righteousness, love, encouragement, perseverance, and faithfulness. Joy in the heart is based on the Law of the Gift of self. In a relationship we receive joy in the heart when we become one with another as in marriage when the two lovers become one. Since God loves us more than we can ever imagine, joy in the heart is to become with one God. He loves us so much that He wants us to be one with Him for all eternity in heaven. Joy is not merely happiness; rather, I contend that it is the realization of supreme happiness. Christ is the only true source of our joy. When we are one with Him and His mission to save souls, we receive joy in the will, mind, and heart. Joy is a choice, and not always an easy one; but as we reflect on it together, I hope it is a choice which you will take with me.
