Book excerpt: In The Power To Control, you will find out how the elite use their vast wealth and power to manipulate you and the general population into supporting their beliefs and interests. The modern human struggle is not about sex, religion, race, ideology, or any of the common themes elites and their media companies and institutions claim it is, as they rile up the populace to garner support for whatever actions and goals will benefit their own interests. The true battle is class warfare between the owners of society and everyone else, as the elites of all societies across the world conspire against the masses by directing the systems and institutions they own and control to create an imbalanced playing field that benefits themselves at the expense of all others.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Power and Control in the Imperial Valley examines the evolution of irrigated farming in the Imperial-Mexicali Valley, an arid desert straddling the California–Baja California border. Bisected by the international boundary line, the valley drew American investors determined to harness the nearby Colorado River to irrigate a million acres on both sides of the border. The “conquest” of the environment was a central theme in the history of the valley. Colonization in the valley began with the construction of a sixty-mile aqueduct from the Colorado River in California through Mexico. Initially, Mexico held authority over water delivery until settlers persuaded Congress to construct the All-American Canal. Control over land and water formed the basis of commercial agriculture and in turn enabled growers to use the state to procure inexpensive, plentiful immigrant workers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Power System Control and Protection focuses on the control and protection of power systems to ensure a secure and reliable supply as the society depends greatly on electric energy. This book examines the problems surrounding the generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electricity. Comprised of 10 chapters, this book starts with an overview of the functional and environmental requirements for the intelligent remote terminal in which much of the logic linked with each function has been programmed and is executed in a digital processor. This text then examines the objectives, functions, and elements of the control center design. Other chapters consider the operating characteristics and configuration of the system components of an audio-frequency power line carrier load management system. This book discusses as well the concept of transmission line relaying by digital computer. The final chapter deals with the large-scale utilization of wind energy. Power systems engineers will find this book useful.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive text on the operation and control of power generation and transmission systems In the ten years since Allen J. Wood and Bruce F. Wollenberg presented their comprehensive introduction to the engineering and economic factors involved in operating and controlling power generation systems in electric utilities, the electric power industry has undergone unprecedented change. Deregulation, open access to transmission systems, and the birth of independent power producers have altered the structure of the industry, while technological advances have created a host of new opportunities and challenges. In Power Generation, Operation, and Control, Second Edition, Wood and Wollenberg bring professionals and students alike up to date on the nuts and bolts of the field. Continuing in the tradition of the first edition, they offer a practical, hands-on guide to theoretical developments and to the application of advanced operations research methods to realistic electric power engineering problems. This one-of-a-kind text also addresses the interaction between human and economic factors to prepare readers to make real-world decisions that go beyond the limits of mere technical calculations. The Second Edition features vital new material, including: * A computer disk developed by the authors to help readers solve complicated problems * Examination of Optimal Power Flow (OPF) * Treatment of unit commitment expanded to incorporate the Lagrange relaxation technique * Introduction to the use of bounding techniques and other contingency selection methods * Applications suited to the new, deregulated systems as well as to the traditional, vertically organized utilities company Wood and Wollenberg draw upon nearly 30 years of classroom testing to provide valuable data on operations research, state estimation methods, fuel scheduling techniques, and more. Designed for clarity and ease of use, this invaluable reference prepares industry professionals and students to meet the future challenges of power generation, operation, and control.
