Book excerpt: Environmental issues are the harmful effects of human activities on the environment. These include pollution, over-population, waste disposal, climate change, global warming, and the greenhouse effect. Various environment protection programs are being practiced at the individual, organizational, and government levels to establish a balance between man and the environment. Eco Survival is a book that talks about the solutions to environmental issues. Nowadays, no field is aloof from ecological problems. Usually, there is a lot of talk about the causes and effects, but lesser think about the solutions. We have made a small effort to put the ecological issues and solutions from this book. People are aware of some environmental problems, but they don't know how to mitigate this. However, some problems that are unknown to common people, like deleting just a spam email from the mailbox, can reduce carbon emissions and save our planet. Newly arrived global warming issues like cryptocurrency mining increases greenhouse gas emissions which can increases global warming beyond 20C. The book discusses waste management, bioherbicides, ethnomedicine, eco-tourism, eco-bricks, ecocity, and the role of nanotechnology to mitigate pollution and reduce environmental pollution with the help of Genetically Modified organisms many more. The book is a small initiative to create awareness about environmental concerns and how Eco-friendly sustainable options could be available if we can put effort into saving mother earth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a panoramic view of the emerging eco-paradigm of Translation Studies, known as Eco-Translatology, and presents a systematic study of the theoretical discourse from ecological perspectives in the field of Translation Studies. Eco-Translatology describes and interprets translation activities in terms of the ecological principles of Eco-holism, traditional Eastern eco-wisdom, and ‘Translation as Adaptation and Selection’. Further, Eco-Translatology approaches the phenomenon of translation as a broadly conceived eco-system in which the ideas of ‘Translation as Adaptation and Selection’, as well as translation as a ‘textual transplant’ promoting an ‘eco-balance’, are integrated into an all-encompassing vision. Lastly, Eco-Translatology reinforces contextual uniqueness, emphasizing the deep embeddedness of texts, translations, and the human agents involved in their production and reception in their own habitus. It is particularly encouraging, in this increasingly globalised world, to see a new paradigm sourced from East Asian traditions but with universal appeal and applications, and which adds to the diversity and plurality of global Translation Studies. This book, the first of its kind, will substantially expand the horizons of Translation Studies, a field that is still trying to define its own borders, and will open a wealth of new possibilities. Destined to become a milestone in the field of Translation, Interpretation and Adaptation Studies, as well as eco-criticism, it will introduce readers to a wholly new epistemological intervention in Translation Studies and therefore will open new vistas of thoughts, discussion and criticism.

Download or read book Eco-Freaks written by John Berlau and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2006-11-26 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tree-huggers may actually be squeezing the life out of the environment. In a book that is alternately alarming, enlightening, ironic, and entertaining, award-winning journalist John Berlau explores the myriad ways in which shortsighted environmentalism actually endangers trees, wildlife, and people. In chapter after chapter, Berlau debunks myths and libels about: global warming and climate change the dangers of pesticides like DDT trees and pollution fuel economy and the auto industry the threat posed by asbestos the lifesaving role of dams and levees plans to "rewild" America Mother Nature is not a gentle person, and Berlau's pointed reporting reveals the very real dangers to people and their environments when Eco-Freaks prevent us from restraining her. "Berlau makes a powerful case. . . . Thinking environmentalists who read this book will be forced to revisit at least some of their most deeply held beliefs." -Joel Himelfarb, Washington Times "Berlau says a lot of things that are not generally known that needed to be said." -Bruce N. Ames, recipient, National Medal of Science, 1998 Save the Planet . . . and Ourselves In Eco-Freaks, award-winning journalist John Berlau provides a much needed and startling exposé about how the environmental movement with its radical, shortsighted eco-activists has actually helped amplify the dangers of natural disasters and destroyed the lives and property of millions of Americans. As Berlau writes, "America . . . is still mighty prosperous, but environmentalism is putting us on the brink of danger as well. As technology after technology that our grandparents put in place is being banned, and new technologies never even come to market, we risk a public-health disaster. Environmentalists have promoted all sorts of doomsday scenarios about population explosions and massive cancer crises from pesticides that have been shown to be false. But now, because we have done away with so many useful products based on those scares, we are in danger of an old-fashion doomsday returning, because we've lost what protected us from the wrath of nature. Indeed, as we will see throughout this book, public health hazards caused by environmental policies are already on the scene."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you want to live in a better socio-economic system unaffected by global economic turmoil? Do you want to build eco-cities to end poverty, save billions on public spending and reduce cO2, N2O and other pollutants to 0%? Would you like to live self-sufficient in a sustainable ethical society and own an eco-home that becomes your space for survival? Ecolism Volume 1 is one of four small volumes proposing eco-solutions. It aims to solve most problems in most socio-economic systems. Henri E. Maalouf creates a framework of a social and economic system to complement a utopian Eco-city. The concept is to create protective bubbles for societies. In this volume, an eco-city is created to protect societies from any global economic turmoil. It proposes ideas which would offer people a decent standard of living. He suggests that it must be a compulsory human right for each couple older than sixteen to own an eco-home and the government pay the interest on their mortgage until the social welfare system find them a job to repay the loan.

Book excerpt: The sounds produced by geophonic, biophonic and technophonic sources are relevant to the function of natural and human modified ecosystems. Passive recording is one of the most non-invasive technologies as its use avoids human intrusion during acoustic surveys and facilitates the accumulation of huge amounts of acoustical data. For the first time, this book collates and reviews the science behind ecoaucostics; illustrating the principles, methods and applications of this exciting new field. Topics covered in this comprehensive volume include; the assessment of biodiversity based on sounds emanating from a variety of environments the best technologies and methods necessary to investigate environmental sounds implications for climate change and urban systems the relationship between landscape ecology and ecoacoustics the conservation of soundscapes and the social value of ecoacoustics areas of potential future research. An invaluable resource for scholars, researchers and students, Ecoacoustics: The Ecological Role of Sounds provides an unrivalled set of ideas, tools and references based on the current state of the field.
