This book was released on 2012-04-09 with total page 1137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Crustal evolution means the resultant changes that the Earth's crust has gone through in its geologic past affected by changes in the mantle-crust system, the atmosphere, the hydrosphere and the biosphere. Metallogeny is the genesis of metallic mineral deposits. Both the terms are used in the book in their conventional sense, but keeping in mind an Indian context. This book is the first of its kind to document in detail the nature, origin and evolution of mineral deposits in India and is contextualized in local, regional and global geology. The book is unique in that it combines both metallogeny and crustal evolution that were hitherto treated as stand-alone topics. The exhaustive chapters in the book carry detailed case studies of the distribution and occurrence of ores. The book would be useful to students of advanced geology, researchers, teachers, planners and global metallogeneticists around the world.

This book was released on 2000 with total page 538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The northwestern Indian Shield, covering a major part of Rajasthan and parts of northern Gujarat, northwestern Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi, is one of the most important repositories of a variety of mineral deposit types, particularly of base metals. Their metallogeny has been a topic of both academic and economic interest for more than five decades. This volume presents in a systematic manner the essential features of all economically significant types of metallic mineral deposits in this region and considers their mettallogeny in the perspective of crystal evolution of the northwestern Indian shield. Current concepts, problems and the probable trends of future research are highlighted. Leading geoscientists with first hand knowledge of this Precambrian terrene have contributed to this volume. The book will be of interest to exploration geologists, researchers and postgraduate students concerned with Precambrian geology and metallogeny.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Deposit Modeling Program was founded by UNESCO-IUGS with the major aim to disseminate knowledge from scientists in more developed countries to their counterparts from less developed ones. A fringe benefit of this effort was the compilation of information on existing models and promotion of topical workshops in developing countries. This book is the result of one such workshop that took place in Delhi and Udaipur, India, in December 2001. Sediment-hosted Lead-Zinc Sulphide Deposits compiles the work of renowned economic geologists from three continents. The authors highlight the recent advances in the understanding of the temporal and tectono-stratigraphic distribution of sediment-hosted Pb-Zn sulphide ores and processes governing their genesis. The first section comprises five chapters covering some of the most important deposits of this class in Australia and Canada in detail, emphasizing their genetic models. It also includes a paper on the "geoenvironmental model," which concerns behavior before mining and resulting from mining, processing, and smelting. The second section discusses the mineralized terranes in the state of Rajasthan, northwest India, which host three major sulphide deposits. This reference is packed with color and black and white photographs, illustrations, charts, and graphs, making it a valuable, up-to-date resource for any geologist or geotechnical scientist studying major mineral deposits.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Economic Mineralization - the volume sets out to present various aspects of a very broad details of a narrow field of economic mineralization at a time when the competitively growing global economy and the pressing needs of the society are compelling economic geology to grow and pile of data is accumulating and opinions changing very rapidly. The volume incorporates papers, a resultant of information explosion and electrifying conceptual revolution in economic geology, describing the new and exciting results and timely reviews integrating and immense amount of knowledge in the field of geology, exploration, mining, environment, economics, geophysics and geochemistry that has bearing on economic mineralization. The book imbibes sections on crustal evolution and economic mineralization, economic mineralization of igneous application, economic mineralization of sedimentary affiliation, prospecting and exploration and mining, economics and environments. In all the five sections current concepts, problems and probable trends of future research are highlighted. This book will be an invaluable everlasting reference for both industry and academia specializing in economic mineralization and for those who need updated information and current research in the field. It will be equally useful for advance level geology and mining students and research scholars throughout the world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Memoir provides a comprehensive review of the Precambrian basins of the four Archaean nuclei of India (Dharwar, Bastar, Singhbhum and Aravalli-Bundelkhand), encompassing descriptions of the time-space distribution of sedimentary-volcanic successions, the interrelationship between tectonics and sedimentation, and basin histories. Studies of 22 basins within the framework of an international basin classification scheme deepen an understanding of the basin architecture especially for cratonic basins. Most Indian sedimentary successions formed as cratonic to extensional-margin rift and thermal-sag basins, some reflecting mantle plume movement, subcrustal heating or far-field stress. This Memoir shows that Phanerozoic plate-tectonic and sequence stratigraphic principles can be applied to the Precambrian basins of large Archaean provinces. The differences between the stratigraphic architecture of the Indian Precambrian and examples of Phanerozoic basin-fill successions elsewhere are ascribed to variable rates and intensities of the controls on accommodation and sediment supply, and changes inherent in the evolution of the hydrosphere-atmosphere and biosphere systems.
