Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report serves to assess the Nation¿s progress in addressing juvenile crime. The 2007 data bring some welcome news, as the recent trend of modest increases in juvenile arrests in 2005 and 2006 has been broken. The good news is reflected not only in the 2% decline in overall juvenile arrests and the 3% decline in juvenile arrests for violent crimes from 2006 to 2007 but also in the data for most offense categories, for males and females, and for white and minority youth. However, one area that merits continued attention is disproportionate minority contact with the juvenile justice system. For example, the arrest rate for robbery among black juveniles was more than 10 times that for white youth in 2007. Charts and tables.

Book Synopsis Easy R by : Elizabeth Gohmert

Download or read book Easy R written by Elizabeth Gohmert and published by SAGE Publications. This book was released on 2020-01-02 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you want to learn R? This book is built on the premise that anyone with a bit of free time and a healthy curiosity can learn to use R in their studies or at work. The authors focus on using R to do useful things like writing reports, creating data and graphs, accessing datasets collected by others, preparing data, and conducting simple data analysis. In this book you’ll learn how to: install R and RStudio®, and set up an RStudio® project and folders; write an essay with graphs based on simple real-world data using R Markdown; create variables from everyday numeric information and visualize data through five types of charts—bar plot, histogram, pie chart, scatter plot, and time series line plot—to identify patterns in the data; write and run R programs, and prepare your data following the tidyverse approach; import external datasets into R, install R data packages, and carry out initial data validity checks; conduct exploratory data analysis through three exercises involving data on voting outcomes, natural resource consumption, and gross domestic product (GDP) via data visualization, correlation coefficient, and simple regression; and write a research paper on the impact of GDP per capita on life expectancy using R Markdown. Student-friendly language and examples (such as binge-watched shows on Netflix, and the top 5 songs on Spotify), cumulative learning, and practice exercises make this a must-have guide for a variety of courses where data are used and reports need to be written. Code and datasets used to carry out the examples in the book are available on an accompanying website.

Book Synopsis Flyfisher's Guide to Colorado's Easy Access Mountain Lakes by : Phil Tereyla

Download or read book Flyfisher's Guide to Colorado's Easy Access Mountain Lakes written by Phil Tereyla and published by Wilderness Adventures Press. This book was released on 2021-04-29 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Colorado's high country is rich with amazing scenery and big, beautiful fish. Unfortunately, many of these highland fisheries are impractical to access. But thanks to veteran fishing guide and writer Phil Tereyla, over 60 mountain lakes in Colorado that are under three miles to access in all corners of the state are now fully outlined and covered in this wonderful new flyfishing guidebook, the Flyfisher's Guide to Colorado's Easy Access Mountain Lakes (Wilderness Adventures Press, 2021). Difficulty to access does not equate to quality fishing; many of Colorado's easy-access alpine gems host fantastic fishing for large trout, including lots of drive-to lakes and reservoirs. Most of these lakes also have the same signature scenery and solitude that has made Colorado so popular for fishing and otherwise. Tereyla shows us where to catch all three subspecies of native cutthroat trout (greenback, Colorado River, and Rio Grande), arctic grayling, big brown trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, cuttbows, splake, tiger trout, tiger muskie, and more. He also covers tributary streams, inlets and outlets, the right times to pursue these awesome fish, and the flies that work. This book is perfect for families, aging and disabled anglers, and those who would rather spend their day casting to large trout than hiking. It also makes a great gift for the angler who has it all. Don't miss this opportunity to indulge in all that Colorado's alpine lakes have to offer! Pick up your copy today!
